Infopath 2007 - A new PATH to INFOrmation gathering

Do you want to develop windows application for just get information from the user and stored in the database and retrieve the information and make some reports.  That is simply done by you using Infopath without or with minimum programming knowledge.

Infopath is software comes along with Microsoft Office 2003/2007/2010.  It is used to develop the electronic form by using drag and drop methods.   The layout are easily develop by a person by using predefined table layouts.  Zero coding in need for simple operations like addition, multiplication....

The added advantage is all data saved in XML format so it is easy to portable to anywhere.  Easy to connect with MS-Access, MS-SQL server or any database you need.   Very simple to retrieve the data from the database by using drag and drop.

It provide search facility, filters and edit and update at preview mode of data.   The design of the form is totally separate from data.

It had rich set of tools like calender controller, multi-selection box,etc...  It also supports to the activex controls.

Behind the Boundary

Infopath forms also used in the websites by using Sharepoint Services.  It is mostly used for the form with large amount of fields.  mostly infopath is used in Government offices and banks to fill the form in  long duration.   Example consider a customer entry form had 40 inputs that all are entered by the office at once because that all are in different criteria.   In ASP dot net website there no need to save the partial entered form because the mandatory field is not allow you to save.   So we use Infopath form because it is working at offline also.  We can save infopath form as a draft in our local system.  Then we click submit whenever the form completes.

                    Infopath supported with WebServices.

Infopath supported with form templates of Sharepoint.

We can develop workflow forms with infopath.
